Mastering Ryze:

Althea Garner is one of Ryze's leading business networking personalities: Althea is the leader of The B2B Networking board started over 3 years ago with almost 2000 members. We are a great collection of people of diverse thinking and backgrounds but all committed to helping each other. She shared some fantastic tips for making the most of achieving a credible networking experience.

" NETWORK PRESENCE
Aside from maintaining a consistent network presence, it is important that you give yourself every opportunity to be noticed, in order for the branding process to take place. Posting meaningful articles to networks of your choice (by this, I DON'T mean posting advertisements!), will build credibility and enable members to get to know you.

GUEST BOOKS
We've already discussed the aspect of signing Guest Books ~ some find this tedious, while other find it necessary and fun. To be honest, I don't sign GB's as much now as I have in the past.... lack of time is more at fault here, than lack of will to do so.

So which GB's do you sign and how do you find them?

I have found that the easiest way to source GB's, with the intention of building a relationship, is to go to the profile page of a member whose network post I have enjoyed - then sign the GB.

The other way, is to look at who connects you to a member (this would be at the top of that members profile page) - click on the names you don't already know and assess whether this member would be a good contact for you.

NETWORK WITH ME
Believe me, it doesn't work!

This option, found at the top of a members profile page sends a message to the member saying that you want to network with them .... but why and what you have in common with them is not made clear.

PRIVATE MESSAGE
Members are allowed a certain number of private messages to people they are not already connected with, per month. Some members prefer to use the PM to intitiate contact over the Network With Me feature, but be warned: you will get icy silence if your PM even remotely smacks of a sales pitch - rather develop the relationship first!

WHO'S VISITED YOUR PAGE
On the left hand side of the screen in the sidebar, is the link to see who has visited your Ryze profile page in the last week - even if they didn't sign your GB. These are people who have found you!

NEW MEMBERS
On the Ryze Home Page, right at the bottom, you will find the newest Ryze members. While it's nice to be able to offer a warm welcome to new members, I have found that this method often results in partial information, no photographs and most often, the member has not yet discovered how to open their GB. (There is also a link to Newest Members on the sidebar).

NEWEST PHOTOS
This is a fairly new addition to the sidebar ~ when new members add their photos or when existing members change their photos, they will appear in this random list.

This is a great way for veteran members to be brought to the fore again.

WHO'S ONLINE
There's no time like the present and sending a quick introductory PM to someone who is on-line ("Hi, I noticed that you are on-line and thought I'd make your acquaintance.....") is a method preferred by some.

So members, these are just some ideas of how to build relationships using some of Ryze's MANY contact-building tools! Why not spend a few minutes reaching out to others, but remember..... BUILD THE RELATIONSHIP, FIRST! "
